One of the key major accident hazards for upstream activities is the loss of well control that results in blowouts.
Understanding the needs of managing the risks associated with well control, Bryan Atchison and Phil Hassard co-founded Safe Influx in 2018. Together, the directors have over 60 years of experience in the oil and gas industry.
Working closely with a specialist equipment controls designer and manufacturer based in Scotland, Safe Influx designed a bespoke control system specifically for Automated Well Control.
Our system went through considerable testing against drilling simulators. In October 2019, we have successfully demonstrated the Automated Well Control in Drilling Mode perfoming a series of tests on a traditional land rig.
With a winning combination of skills and knowledge, we believe that the proprietary technology of the Safe Influx Automated Well Control significantly reduces the human factor element in well control, preventing blowouts.

Safe Influx was nominated one of the finalists for the Offshore Achievement Awards in the Emerging Technology category.
The drilling module was successfully implemented and proven on a land rig. The existing Lloyd’s Register Technology Qualification Certificate was extended to traditional land rigs.
